The Worst Case Scenario for the Republican Party: Electability

The recent win in Illinois by Mitt Romney may have statistically brought Romney closer to securing the Republican nomination, but that does not stop the controversy from raging. Some insiders who spoke anonymous on the discontent within the party had one question "why". Why are the Republicans not attacking Obama instead of each other? Why is the establishment so gun-ho over Romney no matter what the cost? Why is Romney so electable against Obama when he is spending 7 to 1 in the primary with not impressive results ? One Republican insider speaking on condition of confidentiality is concerned about the ill focus fight against President Obama. The Republican infighting is leaving a breach of disrepair in the party. This breach is distracting the one common goal to defeat President Obama. As the insider discussed, " all concerted efforts should be made against President Obama, but instead all concerted efforts are being made to destroy ourselves(Republican Party)." As the … [Read more...]

NBC News: Santorum wins Alabama and Mississippi

By Michael O'Brien, msnbc.com Updated 10:50 p.m. -- Rick Santorum scored victories in the Mississippi and Alabama primaries on Tuesday, depriving Mitt Romney of a signature win in a conservative stronghold and raising fresh doubts about the viability of Newt Gingrich's campaign. The former Pennsylvania senator made his case for being the lone, serious Republican challenger to Romney for the remainder of the primary by besting Gingrich in states the former speaker's campaign had previously said were essential to its long-term viability. “We did it again,” Santorum said to wild applause from supporters in Louisiana, and amid projections by NBC News that he would win both Mississippi and Alabama. Romney had hoped to score a victory in Mississippi, thereby proving his ability to win a state that composes part of the heart of the modern GOP. But he appeared to be heading to a third-place finish in both contests, failing to even surpass Gingrich, a candidate who’s … [Read more...]

Forty-nine delegates are at stake in that race, and Romney is likely to win all or most of them. Thirteen of the delegates will be awarded to the candidate who wins 50% or more of the vote and an additional 33 delegates will be awarded by congressional district. The primary was called based on exit polls, as precinct results were just starting to come in after polls closed at 7 p.m. EST. John McCain won the state in 2008 with 50% of the vote toMike Huckabee’s 41%. In the 2008 general election, Barack Obama carried Virginia, becoming … [Read more...]

Super Tuesday Blues: The political fiasco continues

Capitol Washington, DC Close Up Photo by donny-wise.com

The Super Tuesday Republican Primary is political high drama for us political junkies at best when a one or both parties are this far along in Presidential nomination process with multiple candidates still in the race. This campaign season is much different as my interest is waning on the entire presidential election, as the problems of America are so grave that we cannot give a leap of faith in committing a vote in November’s election. Campaign promises and nice slogans cannot be the acceptable standard in the upcoming election, as the next President must deal with some of America’s gravest challenges whether voluntary or involuntary. This issues include Fiscal (Tax Code/ Debt Reduction), Education, Energy Independence, Personal Financial Literacy/Financial System Restructuring, and Unemployment Crisis. An evaluation of President Obama in job performance in resolution of any of these issues would be equivalent of a letter grade D at best. This performance is not any evaluation … [Read more...]

Whose Cup of Tea? Republicans flat on financial fixes under guise of Grover Norquist

Consumer's must make the restoration of a healthy financial system a top priority in the 2012 election. The consumer access to a healthy financial system empowers personal responsibility and innovation in society. The consumer's restoration of health in the financial system is the foundation the post WWII economy was built upon.  This restoration is beyond any one party or ideology. This restoration is American. In review of the Republican party, the party of less taxes and less government has a fly in the ointment of core principles and beliefs. The fly in the The Republican Party's ointment is a man named Grover Norquist. Any restoration to the financial system falls flat on the side of the Republican Party under one lobbyist and his firm Americans for Tax Reform. The Taxpayers Protection Pledge is signed by 95% of all Republican Congressman and all but one 2012 Republican presidential candidates.  The pledge opposes all taxes increases or any reduction or elimination of … [Read more...]
