Any person should be alarmed over the coming disaster facing the fundamental structural systems in North Carolina. The most important issue of our time is Amendment One. What good is Amendment One if the state economy is on the verge of an irreversible tipping point toward collapse? The Republicans came into power, and the promise was change, change, and more change. The recent Great Recession did expose the state's economic damage from the loss of manufacturing from the state since 1982. The manufacturing loss was worse than any other state in all fifty states, and the warnings were made loud and clear in the 2008 election on the fracturing of the state economy. The entrance of the Republicans into the fray of power should have formed a economic task force to bring solutions with limited resources and private sector partners to forged a new way forward.
