Human remains possibly found in Titanic shipwreck

Human remains possibly found in Titanic shipwreck 2004 photo shows coat, boots in mud among debris THE ASSOCIATED PRESS Sunday, April 15, 2012, 9:41 AM AP The remains of a coat and boots, articulated in the mud on the sea bed near Titanic's stern, are suggestive evidence of where a victim of the disaster came to rest. Human remains may be embedded in the mud of the North Atlantic where the New York-bound Titanic came to rest when it sank 100 years ago, a federal official said Saturday. A 2004 photograph, released to the public for the first time this week in an uncropped version to coincide with the disaster’s centenary, shows a coat and boots in the mud at the legendary shipwreck site. “These are not shoes that fell out neatly from somebody’s bag right next to each other,” James Delgado, the director of maritime heritage at the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration, told The Associated Press in a phone interview. Gas may reach dreaded $4 nationally this week

Gas prices may reach $4 nationally this week By ksl.com   SALT LAKE CITY -- Analysts expect the national average price of a gallon of gas to go above $4 by the end of the week. Sunday, the national average for a gallon of gas was $3.92. In Utah, the average is closer to $3.71. The Oil Price Information Service says less oil production is in part to blame for the expected price hike. Three refineries serving the east coast were shut down last fall. The season has just as much to do with it, however, as federal law requires oil companies to make a cleaner blend of gas through spring for summer, when travelling picks up. Demand for gasoline tends to drop off in winter, making it the perfect time for refineries to get ready for summer, when the objective is to produce as much fuel as possible. The catch is that the refining industry's version of spring cleaning causes supplies to shrink and prices to rise. During this period when refiners are doing maintenance and … [Read more...]

Sunday Snippet: RBC sign goes dark over Raleigh Skyline

20120304-071410.jpg

It is a rainy morning in Raleigh, NC, I was up early for a Sunday when I peered in the distance to the skyline to witness an oddity to behold. Two of the cities tallest towers were gleeming the dark before the dawn, but the gleeming lights were not a familiarity to Raleigh. The changing face of banking has brought two gigantic changes to the skyline. First, The huge Wells Fargo sign on the top of the form Wachovia Capitol Center in Downtown Raleigh is a mini sunset lighting almost 500 ft in the sky. The most dramatic change is the RBC sign being dark in the middle of brightly lit crown that graces Raleigh's tallest building.
