Personal Finance change is easier said than done

Wipe our Debt (Photo credit: Images_of_Money) Passion is a strong force to keep things going when all is about to fail. I am writing this article today, because our nation has become a nation of talkers. Talk sounds so nice someone said to me one time, but action is another component all together. The whole country must change an attitude about personal finance, or we will never overcome the hurdle that we face in America. We are a debtor society, and the government is the best example of our specific problem with 16 Trillion in debt on the books. Debt reduction and cost savings measures are great to discuss, but the actions are much harder to implement. The prestige is lost when having to do the dirty work. That is the problem in Washington, DC, and throughout the country. As an advocate, the stage was set for this quarter of 2012 to be our year with a group of partners. Several partners brought great ideas and resources to the table, but crunch time came and they have withdrawn … [Read more...]

How a speech at Arlington Cemetery changed my views on personal finance

The invite was a highlight in a professional career to have the honor to speak at Arlington Cemetery to the military families impacted by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. The speech was to address families who lost a spouse during the war, or a spouse was injured severely and recovering at Walter Reid Army Hospital. The year was 2009, and the impact of the speech would be a cumulative effect to events in my recent past to become an advocate of change in personal finance.  The failings of people in personal finance are not always a failure in the responsibility of a person. My speech was the way to rebuild financially in asymmetrical techniques since the loss of a spouse on the battlefield due to grave injury or by sacrifice of life, and I could connect to the audience listening to the words and watching the presentation. A survivor of an illness that lasted 24 months made me empathetic to the situation.  The audience members and I could not be responsible for the unexpected path of … [Read more...]

When the trust of consumer and banker is eroded away. The widespread driver of prosperity is dead when the banks are not the place for saving money or to obtain a loan. Personal Financial Literacy equals victory in America

Personal Financial Literacy is the key to freedom and prosperity. The widespread financial health of the consumer and the community promotes a strong vibrant economy and strong personal responsibility. Why is our education system failing our children in the most important matter? The personal finance race is being lost along with the quality of life. People of all income levels are not immune to the crisis as 40% of income earners of 100k annually live paycheck to paycheck.         The personal finance race begins day one of a consumer’s life. The race is a cradle to grave marathon, and the ability to successfully finish the race is because of the knowledge and experience given to an individual at the onset of learning. This race is so important to an individual to navigate the events of life, and the quality of life is a direct result of the ability to successfully manage the personal finance race. As a result of the importance of personal finance to … [Read more...]

America’s debt clock ticks as AAA credit rating is at stake.

Tick Tock Goes The Debt Clock: Easier to Default Than Walk The Walk? Posted during the previous Debt Debate. Updated based on comments by Moody's on USA Credit Rating. Moody's will be monitoring the outcome of the upcoming debt negotiations that will take place in Congress after the November election. The Congress must take some action to show management of deficits in the short and medium term. The debacle of the last debate cost our AAA credit rating with Standard and Poor's(S&P). The downplay of the S&P downgrade did work to deflect any negativity from loss of the AAA credit rating with S&P. However, Moody's is a different story for the United States. A reevaluation by Moody's to lower the coveted AAA credit rating of the United States of America may be the first domino to fall in a debt crisis that would cripple any austerity measures taken by the political leadership. The loss of confidence in America's credit worthiness would be a disaster unimaginable in … [Read more...]

Woman finds ex-boyfriend living in her attic

Times are tough, but this takes the cake.... http://m.yahoo.com/w/legobpengine/news/blogs/sideshow/woman-finds-ex-boyfriend-living-her-attic-205257831.html?orig_host_hdr=news.yahoo.com&.intl=US&.lang=en-US Woman finds ex-boyfriend living in her attic A Rock Hill, N.C. woman knew something was in her attic when she heard a thump and then some nails started popping out from the ceiling of her bedroom one night. The mother of five thought it might be an animal of some sort and sent her older sons and nephew to check it out, she told WCNC-TV in Charlotte. She told the Charlotte Observer that she felt "there was some poltergeist stuff going on." And what they found was surprising. It wasn't an animal. It was the woman's ex-boyfriend. He came down from attic without much explanation and left with a smile before police could arrive, the Charlotte newspaper reports. The man had been living in the attic for about two weeks, WCNC reported, noting the ex-boyfriend was in jail … [Read more...]
